LiftMax Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 8, 2026
LiftMax is a workout tracking app. This policy explains what data the app handles and, just as important, what it doesn't.
Your data
All information you enter — your name, age, height, weight, sex, fitness goals, workouts, exercises, routines, and history — is stored in a local database on your device. The app has no user accounts and no sign-up. We (the developer) have no way to see, access, or recover this data, and it is never included in the crash reports described below.
It stays on your device unless you switch on cloud backup, which is described next. Nothing is uploaded until you ask for it.
Backing up to your own cloud
LiftMax can copy your data to cloud storage you already own, so that a lost or replaced phone doesn't mean starting over. Which cloud depends on your device: Android backs up to your own Google Drive, and iPhone and iPad back up to your own iCloud. You are never asked to sign up for anything new.
This is off until you turn it on. Nothing leaves your device until you switch backup on — on Android that means connecting a Google Account, and on iOS it uses the iCloud your device is already signed into — and either way the app asks you to confirm what will be uploaded before it does.
If you switch it on, the copy contains the same information listed above — your profile, workouts, exercises, routines and history. It is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to a private folder in your own Google Drive or iCloud, on your own storage. That folder is a hidden application-data folder: it is not visible when you browse your Drive or iCloud, no other app can read it, and LiftMax cannot see or ask to see anything else in your account. There is no LiftMax server involved, and no copy is kept anywhere else — the data goes from your device to your own account and nowhere in between.
You can optionally turn on end-to-end encryption, which scrambles the backup on your phone before it is sent, using a key held only on that device. With it on, the file in your Drive or iCloud cannot be read by Google, by Apple, by us, or by anyone who reaches it — only by someone who has your key. The key is never uploaded, which also means that losing both your key and your phone makes the backup permanently unreadable. The app says so when you switch it on.
You are in control of the copy. You can delete the backup from within the app at any time, or turn automatic backup off. On Android you can also disconnect your Google Account; on iOS there is no separate account to disconnect, because backup uses the iCloud your device is already signed into. Your Google Account and Drive are governed by Google's own privacy policy, and your iCloud by Apple's own privacy policy.
Crash and error reporting
LiftMax uses Sentry, a third-party error-monitoring service, to learn about crashes and bugs. When the app crashes or runs into an unexpected error, Sentry automatically receives technical diagnostic information: the error message and stack trace, characteristics of your device such as its model, manufacturer, operating system version and app version, and a short technical history of app events (such as screen navigation or network status changes) leading up to the error. This is used solely to identify and fix bugs. The app is configured so that your IP address is not recorded with these reports, and it does not attach your name or any other profile detail to them. See Sentry's privacy policy for how they handle this data. LiftMax does not use analytics, advertising, or any other tracking software.
How crash data is handled and how long it is kept
Crash reports are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and are processed and stored in Sentry's European data region, in Frankfurt, Germany. Access is limited to the developer of LiftMax. Sentry automatically deletes stored crash reports once its retention period elapses, after which we no longer hold them. If you would like a crash report associated with your device removed sooner, contact us at the address below and we will delete it.
Data sharing
Your training data is never shared with anyone. If you turn on backup it is sent to your own Google Drive or iCloud, at your instruction and to storage you already own — it is not passed to us or to any third party for their own purposes, and there is no LiftMax server that could receive it. Crash diagnostics (described above) are shared only with Sentry, and only for the purpose of debugging. Nothing is ever sold, and nothing is used for advertising.
Data deletion
You can erase everything from inside the app, or delete all app data by removing the app from your device — uninstalling LiftMax permanently removes your local database along with it.
If you have backed up, the app has a "Delete Backup from Drive" action — "Delete Backup from iCloud" on iPhone and iPad — that removes the copy from your own account. On Android, uninstalling LiftMax also causes Google to delete the application-data folder the backup lives in. On iOS it does not: removing the app leaves the copy in your iCloud storage, where you can delete it from your device's iCloud storage settings, so delete it from inside the app first if you want it gone. Deletion of crash diagnostics is covered in the section above.
Children's privacy
LiftMax does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Everything you enter stays on your device, and crash reports contain only technical diagnostic information, never anything you've entered into the app.
Changes to this policy
If LiftMax's data practices change further, this policy will be updated first and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the change.
